June 24th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The early morning jig bit has been off so we started trolling right away on the California side. We had success, catching 7 Mackinaw. Afterwards we tried out a few jigging spots, catching one more fish. Thanks for the laughs and the Filipino jokes!

image1 (48).JPG
June 23rd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- 2nd trip of the day: Since the jig fishing bite has been later I knew we would have success with this method. I headed to one of my favorite fishing spots on the California side and gave the rode to one of the boys (above, pointing to his big fish) who is the fisherman of the group. He sent the jig down and caught the prize of the day. It was fun to see his excitement. It only took us a few ours to catch our limit, releasing a lot of the smaller fish.

image1 (47)
June 23rd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- 1st trip of the day: Today was primarily a trolling fishing trip. I haven’t had much luck lately with the early morning jig bit, so trolling it is. We started at a spot that usually produces and were able to catch 5 fish, but number 6 couldn’t be caught. The fish kept short striking and were allusive. We decided to change fishing tactics and switched to the jig and were finally able to catch number 6, our limit. It was a beautiful day fishing Lake Tahoe.

June 22nd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Knowing that he jig bite has been later recently, I let my clients know that we should start fishing today using the trolling method since they were wanting to take fish home for dinner. We fished the California side, catching 4 fish and missing another 3 or 4. When the trolling bit ended, we motored around to several different fishing spots to jig, only marking a few fish here and there until we got to our last spot. there weren’t many fish in the fishing hole but they were active and that is all that is needed. We caught another 4 decent sized fish then called it a day.

image1 (45)
June 21st, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We started the morning of trolling for fish, catching 4 and missing about the same amount. As the weather heated up, we took a boat ride to catch the breeze and check out some jigging fishing spots on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. We found a fishing hole stacked with fish but we couldn’t get them to bite anything we sent down. It is a bit frustrating to see the fish on the fish finder and not be able to get them to bite. I  was disappointed that I couldn’t get my clients more fish but they told me “Danny, sometimes it is not about the fishing, it is just being out here together”. I appreciated their point of view… but I still wish I could have gotten them more fish.

image1 (44)
June 14th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- This group was referred to me by some clients that I had taken out fishing June 3rd. We had a later start, about 8:30, and went directly to jigging on the California side. I gave them a quick jig fishing lesson and they caught on quickly so we relocated to a spot that typically has a lot of active fish. The fish were shy at first but then it was as if a switch was flipped and it got very exciting in a hurry. Everyone started hooking up all around the boat. We kept the best fish and threw back the smaller ones. I love being busy… when the fish are biting like they were today, it makes the guide look good!

image1 (43)
June 7th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today was a quick limit and a quick trip. We trolled early catching our limit of fish. The clients were satisfied so we called it a day. Another beautiful fishing day on Lake Tahoe.

June 6th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe

June 5th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- After such a windy day yesterday, it was nice not to have to battle the chop and the waves. It was a perfect fishing day, not too hot, not too cold… beautiful! The active schools have been difficult to find for the jig lately so we started the trip trolling, missing the first three bites then catching the next five. We finished off the trip jigging up two more for the limits.

June 4th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe–  Jake’s on the Lake Fishing Derby- Today’s group is making it a tradition to come out with me for the derby. There were three prizes to win, biggest Mackinaw, biggest German Brown Trout, and biggest Rainbow Trout. The weather was our greatest foe today. Early we hit the east shore of the lake, anticipating that it would be un-fishable later when the winds picked up. We went hunting for Rainbows and Browns first, top-lining, catching two and missing two, no trout just Mackinaw. We headed up north next… catching one Mackinaw in the shallows. The wind really started to whip around 8:30 so we headed to the California side to find some shelter and see if we could locate some active fish….. Nothing. We didn’t have any prize fish this year but we all enjoyed the trip. Till next year!

June 3rd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe-  My group wanted to target some Rainbow Trout and German Brown Trout first thing so we spent the first half of the trip trolling. Despite a slow start, we were able to hook into a nice Mackinaw and then a quality German Brown Trout. With these first two fish being large enough to feed the group and their families fish tacos for dinner, the trip was already a success but the day was young and I wanted to see if I could get them on some more fish. We moved to a jigging spot on the Nevada side, producing only one fish, so we moved again and found some active fish. We totaled out at 8 Mackinaw, throwing the 2 smallest back, and 1 German Brown. I enjoyed the group today… See you all in August, or sooner!

June 2nd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today’s trip was strictly catch and release. Today’s client wanted to trophy hunt so before it got light we trolled some big lures, hoping for a monster, but with no success. We next hit a spot that traditionally holds Browns, made a couple passes, but nothing. The lake had turned to glass making trolling less effective. Wanting to get some fish on the lines we transitioned to jigging and caught 9 Mackinaw, 5 being between 4-6 lbs. Great day on the lake and nice fish.

May 31st, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- My previous trips had taught me that the jig bit had moved to later morning, so we spent the first half of the morning top lining for Browns and Rainbows. The water was really rough and we got the one bite on the California side, but it was a nice fish, a 26 inch German Brown. My clients decided that they would like to jig and so we hit one of my go to spots and within 15 minutes we had caught four Mackinaw and missed another two. We had our limits but we still had time so we checked out a couple more spots in the shallows to see if we could locate any more Browns. No more fish were caught but we had a wonderful trip regardless.

May 27th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Afternoon Charter: My clients were a bit skeptical that the fishing would be any good during the middle of the day, but by the end of the trip their doubts were resolved. I gave the group a lesson in jigging and they caught on right away so we got to fishing the California side. We found the fish and within about 2 and a half hours the group called it quits because they had plenty of fish to enjoy for the rest of their 2 night stay in Tahoe. It is always my goal to limit out my clients… but since they were satisfied with their catch, then it was a successful trip.

May 27th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Morning Charter:

May 23rd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We hit the California side first, top-lining, catching 2 Mackinaw and 1 German Brown Trout. We explored a few more spots but without success so we went to the jig catching our limit. It was a beautiful day on Lake Tahoe for these return clients.

image1 (29)
May 22nd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The pressure was on to get fish in the boat for this group since they had been recommended by some locals in town… but once on the water the pressure was gone and it was just pure fishing… what I love best. We went right to the jig, hitting a spot on the California side, catching the boat limit within the first hour and a half. since we had plenty of fish in the boat, we decided to troll some big lures… hunting for a trophy. No takers today but it is always fun to try and dream. It was a pleasure to have this group of four Coast Guards on my boat today.

image1 (31)
May 21st, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today a return client that came out last month brought his son and some friends for a surprise 21st birthday fishing trip. I let the group decide how they would like to fish, troll or jig, and they chose to jig. We went to the California side and got to it, limiting out on Mackinaw. We finished with some top-lining, hoping for some Rainbow Trout or German Brown Trout, but caught one more Mackinaw instead. I thoroughly enjoyed this group… thank you for letting me take you out fishing for your birthday!

May 13th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Last year when I took this group out we trolled for the majority of the trip, catching limits of Mackinaw. This time I wanted to give them a different experience so we top-lined and jigged. We caught plenty of Mackinaw on the jig… then the group mentioned they would prefer to catch a big Rainbow or Brown Trout so we switched it up to the top-line and were able to hook into a big old Brown Trout. This group is always fun… I look forward to seeing them again in August.

image1 (32)
May 9th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- At the start of the trip I asked my guests what kind of fishing they would like to do. They wanted to be active, having a rod in hand, so we went right to jigging. Within the first 10 minutes of jigging we had three fish in the boat, then the bite turned off like a light switch. We gave it a little more time on the California side, picking apart the fishing hole but no action. We headed West and went to some of the go-to spots that I like but no luck. We switched it up and tried trolling for a bit, but again, the bite was off…. so we went to jigging once more and were able to finally locate some active fish and catch the boat limit. It was a beautiful glassy day on the lake… hints of summer in the air.

April 30th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- I am always looking to get my clients on quality fish, and lately they have been on the California side, but today there were very few to be found. After an hour with no bites we decided to switch states and see what Nevada had to offer. Our fist spot I marked one fish; not a good start. The second spot had fish that looked to be active but we were only able to catch one in 45 minutes. We packed it up yet again and went to the third spot…. and finally were able to catch some fish. They were lacking in size but at least they were biting. Better biting fish than no fish. At the end of the day we caught 10 fish over all… and enjoyed a beautiful day on the water.

image1 (26)
April 29th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Afternoon Charter: The weather mellowed out from the morning, giving us a nice calm lake. We worked a shelf on the California side catching 5 quick fish then the bite turned off. The rest of the trip was spent working the area, getting a few more smaller fish and missing a handful of other bites while practicing my Russian.

image1 (25)
April 29th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Morning Charter: While shore fishing a few days ago at Cave Rock I met this group as they were scouting potential fishing spots. We started talking fishing and they decided to come out with me and see what fishing from a charter boat would be like. They wanted an active roll in catching the fish so we went right to the jig so everyone could have a rod in hand. The first spot on the California side had fish but they weren’t active. The group got used to handling the equipment with practice. I could see they had the hang of it so we move to a fishing hole on the Nevada side and it was fish on immediately. The bite was busy and within 45 minutes the boat limit of Mackinaw was caught. We attempted some top-lining without results, cleaned the fish then headed back to the marina. It was a bit rough and cold but catching fish made it all worth it.

April 25th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Spring time has proven over the years to be excellent fishing on Lake Tahoe… both from shore and from the boat. Most of my trophy fish have been caught during this time of year. This 28 inch German Brown Trout is the result of three days of shore fishing, the first two days were cold and choppy with only one bite per day. I began to key in on what the fish were biting on at the end of the second day. The third day was calm and warmer and right before I had to pack it up, my pole twitched and instantly I knew something was checking it out. As I walked over to the pole the arch in the rod tightened and I knew I had a good one on the line, and my walk turned into a sprint. This trophy fish was definitely worth the wait. Shore fishing can be much more of a challenge than fishing from the boat, making the catch even more rewarding.

image1 (22)
April 22nd, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Take two with the same group of guys from yesterday. We started again top-lining, looking to hook into the Browns and Rainbows. We found a big Mackinaw instead, estimate of around 10 lbs, that shook the hook off just inches from the net. We scouted a few other spots top-lining but didn’t even get a strike. We stopped off to catch some minnows, headed to the Nevada side but couldn’t locate the active fish. We moved again, this time to the Tahoe city area, and found what we were looking for, fish stacked on the bottom. We sent the jigs down and had a good time in the fishing hole with everyone hooking up, limiting out, and throwing back nice five pound Mackinaw. When the bite is like the one we had today, it makes me wonder if there is a monster fish down there feeding on all the five pounders. Perhaps one day I will find out.

image1 (20)
April 21st, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- This trip was rescheduled due to inclement weather so it was a relief to have calm, glassy conditions. We started the trip top-lining, targeting the Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout, catching one Brown. Looking for a little more action we transitioned to the jig and caught our limit of Mackinaw. The bite was a bit slow but with consistent hookups, still making for a great day of fishing.

image1 (19)
April 16th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- It is always great to get some locals out on the lake. My clients today were celebrating no school during spring break, enjoying what our backyard has to offer. We had to work for the fish today. They were hard to locate so we jumped from spot to spot with little success and finally found the fish on the Nevada side. We got the jigging rods out and worked the spot until we got the boat limit. It is always great to see a father and daughter spending quality time together. It was a privilege to be a able to take them fishing.

image1 (24)
April 14th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- This group won this trip from Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center’s silent fund raiser auction last Fall. After a bidding war between two of the gentlemen above, the wives stepped in and suggested that they just go fishing together. Problem solved and funds donated to a good cause. We started off trolling but we didn’t mark many fish on the fish finder so shifted gears, relocated and tried out the jig bite. This method proved effective and we were able to catch 6 nice keepers with many more bites in between. It was a beautiful day on Lake Tahoe and a great fishing trip.

image1 (21)
April 14th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe, Afternoon Charter- During a short visit from my cousin and her family we were able to squeeze a few hours of fishing in on Lake Tahoe. They had tried fishing many times before without success so it was great to get them on some fish and let them experience the excitement of actually hooking and landing their own fish. We caught 6 fish on the jig and had a great time catching up. See you next time you are in Tahoe!

Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe
April 9th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- After having to cancel the last two days of fishing due to weather, I was excited to finally get my clients out on the water. These guys have been out on a lot of Lake Tahoe charters so the pressure was on to give them a great experiences. We headed over to the Tahoe City area, a hot spot before the weather rolled in that was loaded with fish, but today there were no fish to be found. We relocated to the Nevada side of the lake, hoping for better luck. We were able to find some active fish, a bunch of tiny fish then the nice 10+ lb Mackinaw. It is amazing how rapidly the fishing conditions can change with a little weather.

April 1st, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Afternoon Charter: As I was wrapping up my first charter of the day the wind started to die down and the weather warmed up. My afternoon clients were excited to get fish in the boat so we headed to a spot on the California side, now accessible without the wind and caught six Mackinaw in 45 minutes on the jig. We switched to trolling to see if we might get some different species in the boat as well, but Mackinaw were the only fish biting. We got another four, the largest just a hair over 10 lbs; it hit like a truck and what a fight! It is always exciting to get a big fish on your line in the shallows.

Fishing Lake Tahoe April 1st, 2017
April 1st, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Morning Charter: With an Easterly wind, the California side of the lake was out of the question so we headed to the Nevada side. Once at our desired fishing location, we caught five Mackinaw on the jig then opted to switch to top-lining to see if there might be any Rainbow Trout or German Brown Trout to be had.  No luck with the trout today but with my clients only wanting to take home 2 fish, we had more than enough. We released the smallest fish and called it a trip.

March 13th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe-  Another calm, beautiful Lake Tahoe day! I met one of my clients while shore fishing at Cave Rock last week. He mentioned that he wanted to go out on a fishing charter, so I gave him one of my cards. I was excited when he called. After getting to know what type of fish my clients were after, we set out hunting for Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. We were on the water early and headed to the Nevada side. I set up and had the clients choose their lures, and once the lines were set, the Rainbow Trout hit, 5 lbs. We were off to a great start! After 3 more passes in the same area and no more bites, we decide to move to the next promising spot. With the bite lagging, I was nervous that the early Rainbow would be the only fish… but thankfully we got another bite, the German Brown Trout, 6+ lbs. While I turned the boat to make another pass the big Mackinaw hit the second line, 13+ lbs. What a fight in shallow water! As the fish came close to the boat I could see him spitting Kokanee, then he took one last big run before we were able to get him into the boat. The three of us let out a huge holler that echoed through the canyons… what an exciting day of fishing. I always enjoy targeting multiple species and fishing the shallows for variety and a change of pace.

March 12th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- My clients are always asking if my family likes to fish…. and the answer is yes. It was a beautiful day out on the water together, fishing and celebrating my wife’s birthday. The only pressure on me was to catch enough fish for a fish fry that evening. We fished off of Tahoe City and had some success, catching 5 fish, releasing the two smallest, and missing a number of other bites. Our ten year old took the prize for the largest fish (reeled in with help from her brother).

image1 (11)
March 11th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The numbers were not a problem today… but the size of the fish were. We caught over double the boat limit, releasing most of the fish, hoping for better quality as the day progressed. We moved spots repeatedly, but were unable to locate the larger Mackinaw. With two thirds of the trip behind us, we decided to keep what we caught from then on so my clients could take some fish home. I always like to think that when we are catching the small fish, there is a BIG fish feeding on the smaller Mackinaw just waiting to be caught. We didn’t catch the big one today, but with beautiful weather and great clients, it was still a wonderful day of fishing.

image1 (10)
March 10th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today’s fishing charter had to cancel so I was able to get out on the lake with a friend. We launched his boat at Cave Rock and within the first five minutes of fishing we pulled a beautiful 6 pound German Brown Trout out of the shallows. Twenty minutes later we caught the 4 pound Rainbow Trout. After fishing without a bite for quite a while we decided to turn back and head for the rock piles. As we turned we caught a 3 pound Mackinaw. It was nice to be out on someone else’s boat for a change and have the luxury of just relaxing and fishing.

March 9th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today I decided to try my luck shore fishing. Before opening my fishing charter business I used to fish from shore a lot… and had some success. Now that I am used to the mobility of a boat to present my bait to the fish, I found my patience tested as I sat on shore and waited for the fish to swim by… and then bite. At the end of the day I had no bites and no fish… just some drowned bait. But…. my largest fish yet was caught from shore, 21 pounds 15 ounces (March 2nd 2013)…. so you just never know what might swim by when you are exercising your patience.

March 8th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today was a research trip to explore some new spots and experiment with big bait. A buddy and I headed out and were able to get around a dozen fish in about an hour and a half on the jig. We kept the best two Mackinaw then headed to shallower water to see if we could catch some German Brown Trout and some Rainbow Trout. With no success we decide to go back out into deeper water to experiment with some gigantic lures, hoping for a gigantic fish. We dropped the lures down into the school of fish and caught a nice 5 pound Mackinaw. It is amazing how aggressive the smaller fish can be to bite on something so big… a case of the eyes being larger than the stomach. Another great day of fishing out on beautiful Lake Tahoe.

February 25th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today we started the charter at noon. I already had a good idea of where the fish were biting so we went directly to the spot on the California side of the lake and started jigging. We dropped some jigs that I had customized to see what the fish would do with them. Today they were irresistible and we were able to catch our limit, all nice sized Mackinaw. The two guys on board with me today were a part of the Watermelon Convention at the Hyatt Regancy. Being from North Carolina, this was their first time out on Lake Tahoe so it was awesome to be able to give them a great fishing experience.

February 24th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- This morning with temperatures in the mid teens, all the dock lines were frozen solid to the cleats, so even though the charter had a later 8:30 start I was at the boat bright and early with a heat gun to thaw the gear. Once freed from the dock and out on the lake we headed to one of the usual productive spots and within minutes we had fish in the boat, catching five fish right away on the jig. The bite died so we explored the fishing hole a bit more and marked fish once again. This round we caught the remainder of our limit including a beautiful 36 and 1/4 inch Mackinaw. The guests on board today were in town for a Watermelon Convention… I thought they were kidding me so I looked it up…

February 18th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe-  We got on the water a bit later than most trips, around 8:30. The early morning trolling bite is usually over by this time so we went to the California side in search of schooled fish to jig. We were able to mark quite a few schools but none of the fish were active. After making a good attempt with no results we headed to a different spot and were able to mark fish around 200 feet. This school was lively and we were able to catch the boat limit within about half an hour. After we caught the limit the bite turned off almost immediately. I am always amazed at the fickle nature of fish. We moved to yet another spot and caught another two Mackinaw, releasing the smallest of our catch. Today’s group was a fun family with a healthy competitive spirit. A little friendly rivalry always makes for a good day of fishing!

February 14th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today’s group didn’t so much care what method we used for fishing, they just wanted to catch a lot of fish. We first headed to the California side and marked a good school of fish, but they were not very active and the four we caught were small so we released them all. We moved spots and found better quality fish and more action. The jig bite was on and we were able to reach our limit, and then some, with a few exciting double hook ups along the way. It was a beautiful winter day of fishing.

January 28th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today’s charter was a reschedule from a few weeks ago when the weather was nasty. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions, sunshine and glassy water…. and fantastic fishing. We started the morning off trolling (catching 2 fish for 3 bites) but after getting to know my clients a bit and learning that they are avid fishermen with their own boats, I gathered that they would enjoy a different, more hands on, fishing style. We moved to a fishing hole on the Nevada side and started jigging. We found the active fish right away and it got exciting in a hurry. I only had 2 clients on the boat but it felt like I had a boat full with the amount of netting and baiting that was going on. The fish kept me busy… I love days like this. Before long we had our limit of Mackinaw and lost count on the overall number of fish that we released. I can’t wait be back out on the lake. Winter fishing is great on Lake Tahoe. With fewer boats on the lake, when you find the fish you are in for an exciting day.

January 15th, 2017 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- I took myself fishing today to remedy the serious case of cabin fever that I had developed after about 2 weeks of solid snow, one storm after another. After thawing out the boat and making sure everything was still intact after the storms, I decided to get a line wet and see what the fishing conditions were like. It was a beautiful day and I had a few short strikes and then this nice rainbow trout. Fish taco night with the family!

December 31st, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We had a later start, about 11:15, on this beautiful last day of 2016. The previous day’s fishing taught me that the fish were not to be found on the California side of the lake so we headed directly to the Nevada side, marking some fish at our first spot and catching 3. After working the spot, moving around and trying to target the more active fish for about an hour and a half, we headed to Sand Harbor to see if we might find more action. I could see that my clients were becoming discouraged in regards to the fishing so far so I was relieved that within the first few minutes at the new spot we had fish in the boat with triple and quadruple hook ups. It got exiting in a hurry! Within half an hour of fishing, limits were caught and all previous disappointment forgotten. What a great way to finish off the year!

December 30th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe-Second Fishing Charter of the day: During the first charter of the day I was texting with the client to let him know how slow the fishing was, not wanting them to be disappointed, but they opted to come out anyway, even if it turned out to be more of a sight seeing trip than a fishing trip. Since I had just scoured the California side and not marked any fish, we headed directly to the Nevada side, even though the wind promised to make it a rough trip. What a difference a few hours can make and a change in location! Within the first few minutes of jigging we had a fish in the boat. What a relief! One client was particularly successful catching 3 fish in  row, and then to top it off, the monster catch of the day, an 18 lb 10 oz mackinaw. He definitely earned bragging rights today. Due the rough conditions and the ensuing motion sickness, we called it a day.

December 30th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe-Morning Fishing Charter: We started off the trip trolling the California side of Lake Tahoe, getting one bite that got away and getting one fish in the boat. All of a sudden the fish finder screen went blank… and unfortunately it stayed that way. We worked the California side scrupulously (about a quarter of the lake) but couldn’t find the fish. It has been a long time since I have fished so hard to just get one keeper with four bites total and two fish (one too small to keep). I am glad these return clients understood that fishing is fishing, some days more productive than others. I look forward to giving them a more exciting trip next time they are in Tahoe.

image1-3December 29th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- So great to get back out on the lake after more than a week of no fishing due to weather and the holidays. We started out trolling in California waters, catching 3 fish. The fish became scarce so we spent some time trying to locate a good spot to jig. Eventually we were able to find some more active fish and the clients were able to catch their limit of Mackinaw.

image1-16
December 20th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- What a glassy, beautiful day! We started around 7:15 and with it still being cold I decided to go right to jigging, not wanting to have the gear freeze over. In retrospect, that was probably a mistake on my part because the bite was SLOW. Spots that are consistently reliable to have fish had nothing. We covered a lot of water seeking the active fish with little results. Our last spot ended up being the only spot to get fish. We ended up with four bites and two fish in the boat, but thankfully a nice size Mackinaw was one of the two. As I guide I almost had to panic (inside joke between today’s clients and myself).

image1-15
December 17th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- It felt so good to be back out Lake Tahoe again with clients after a two week break. We started the morning off trolling. After catching one fish and the temperatures being in the teens the gear kept freezing over so we put the heater to good use and thawed both ourselves and the equipment. We trolled around a bit more and caught two additional fish before sunrise. It was time to transition to jigging so we motored to a nice fishing hole and caught the remainder of our boat limit on the jig. I enjoyed having Erik on board for a second time, this trip with some of his family. Always an honor to have clients come back year after year.

December 3rd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- It’s not often that I am the least experienced fisherman on the boat. My two guests today have been fishing together for 20+ years on Lake Tahoe. We had calm, beautiful weather, a treat this time of year when the weather more often then not is uncooperative. We started the trip top-lining, hooking into a German Brown Trout first, then a Mackinaw, then a Rainbow Trout. It is nice to start the day with variety. Leonard had plans to smoke some fish so we transitioned to jigging, catching Mackinaw for the rest of the trip… great fish for smoking. Over all another enjoyable day of fishing on Lake Tahoe.

November 22nd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Always fun fishing with my friend Bob and family. We started trolling catching 6 fish for 8 bites. Afterwards we switched over to jigging, catching two fish in the first spot then moving to another spot. That proved to be where the fishing was hot… we caught over 25 fish in a matter of 2 and a half hours. See you next Thanksgiving!

image1-41
November 21st, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The youngest angler on board wanted to jig the deep water so we headed to a fishing spot on the California side. We got off to a late start on a cold day but with a heater on board and enthusiastic fishermen, it made for a good trip. We caught our limit of Mackinaw despite missing 4 or 5 fish… a successful trip!

image1-38
November 17th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We trolled the Mackinaw up early and had our limit before the sun came over the mountains. That left us plenty of time to target the Rainbow Trout and German Brown. Now that the waters of Lake Tahoe have cooled to around 51 degrees the trout are more active. We were able to catch two beautiful Rainbows top-lining the California side of the lake. The rainbows were both fighters making for an exciting catch. The fillets were beautiful, a deep reddish orange, and make for great eating.

image1-37
November 8th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The Mackinaw catch is still good and we were able to get limits during the first portion of the trip. We decided to try our luck with the Rainbow and Brown Trout but without success. The warm calm weather still made it a great morning to be out on Lake Tahoe.

image1-36
November 6th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The perfect lake conditions finally came to an end. We battled choppy waters from the get go, then the wind picked up, making it difficult to stay over the fish. I decided to head to the west shore, hoping for calmer waters and shelter from the wind. The waters were slightly less choppy. This group wanted to be busy on their fishing charter, rod in hand, so we got out the jigging gear, found some fish and got to it. The wind limited our options but we were still able to catch 3 fish for 6 bites. I would have liked to get these guys their limit but today proved to be a challenge.

November 5th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Afternoon Fishing Trip: I love it when I can accommodate a last minute fishing charter. This couple called me during my morning charter, and left a message… even though I don’t answer while fishing I return calls asap. We were able get out around 11:30 and the weather continued to be spectacular, and the fishing as well. This was a catch and release trip with healthy competition between the two, seeing who could catch more fish and the biggest fish. We went right to jigging since larger schools of fish in the afternoons have been easier to locate lately. The first spot we missed quite a few as the jigging techniques was learned and by the time we hit our second spot these two new how to set the hook and catch. The trip ended with a double hook up, always exciting, and the fish count at 11 catches for 17 bites.

November 5th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Morning Fishing Trip: This group was referred by Bob at Bass Pro Shops. I am always glad when the fishing is good and I can give the clients a quality fishing trip when I am referred by a friend. Thanks Bob! We started the morning trolling for Mackinaw and the bite was great right away. It didn’t take us long to get limits of Mackinaw, even with a few missed fish. I enjoyed this group, long time fishing buddies. I hope to see you all again in the future. Tight lines fellas!

image1-32
November 4th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We headed over to the Cal/Neva point first thing and the bite was early, before sunrise, catching me a bit by surprise. We limited out on Mackinaw right away so we discussed what we should do for the remainder of the trip; fish for rainbow trout and brown trout, or go trophy hunting. It was decided that we would go for the big one. We put some big lures on and trolled for the remainder of the trip. We didn’t get the big one, but the conversation and the company was terrific.

image1-5
November 3rd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Father and Son duo today. We headed to the west shore, checking out a few spots and marking some fish. We jigged for a bit, but the fish just weren’t active. About 2 hours into the trip with no fish, they let me know about the “curse”… the last three charters they had gone on together, they were either skunked or only one of them caught. The pressure was on! No way I was going to let the curse prevail on my boat. We moved again and the next spot we hit proved to be the one. We netted 6 fish in 45 minutes. No curse here, just a late bite. We filled the rest of the charter hunting for the big one but came up empty. Thanks, guys, for letting me be the one to help break the curse. Hope to see you out again soon.

October 23rd-November 2nd, 2016– The only thing that is good about not having fishing charters booked is not having to cancel due to weather. I was thankful that my schedule was clear because the weather was not fishing friendly with 3 systems coming through with wind, rain and snow. Looking forward to clear skies and calm water again.

October 22nd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The past week had been good for big fish so I was excited to have this return client on board with some of his friends. I had a few spots in mind but once there I couldn’t mark any fish on the fish finder. We continued on from spot to spot and still no fish. Our hunt took us all the way to the south east side of the lake where we finally had success. We caught 8 fish total for the day, keeping 4. We covered a lot of water but ended up with a quality Mackinaw in the end.

October 21st, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Great group from Ireland today! Our early trolling efforts only produced a few small fish that we threw back. I could see that the group was getting a bit nervous since they wanted fish to take home. I knew better quality fish could be found jigging so we switched it up and found a nice hole with a lot of fish. We were able to get plenty of fish for dinner… and I got top practice my Irish accent.
image1-33
October 20th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- This was a west shore trip and we went right to jigging, keeping things exciting from the get go. These two were a quick study, picking up the jigging technique without a problem. We soon had fish on board and they kept me busy netting their catches. Another beautiful day of fishing on Lake Tahoe.

October 19th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- I got a call early this morning from this couple wanting to go fishing later on in the day. We threw a last minute trip together, leaving the dock at 10:30. I already knew where the fish would be, and what they would be biting on, so we went right to jigging, catching right away. We hit a lull so went looking elsewhere for schooled fish without success, so we returned to our original spot, catching our limit, with the icing on the cake being the double digit Mackinaw. Happy Birthday Neil! “Poppin’ Bottles” and catching big fish!

October 18th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- After a week of unfishable weather it felt wonderful to be back out on Lake Tahoe, doing what I love best. This family had originally scheduled a trip for yesterday, but fortunately their vacation schedule was flexible. Yesterday was nasty with winds and rain, but today was beautiful. We motored to a fishing spot on the California side. It took me a while to locate the Mackinaw, but once we found them, I gave a quick jigging lesson and this group started catching all on their own. We had our boat limit by 7:30 am so released the four smallest fish, continued jigging, catching some better quality fish.

image1-29
October 12th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- This group were giving fishing Lake Tahoe another chance after going out the previous year and finding trolling a bit lacking. They were hoping to have a more exciting experience this time so I decided to take them jigging. We caught some bait then headed to the California side of the lake. This group had done their homework, following this fishing report. There was no way I was going to let them go home with less than their limit. The bite was slow to start, catching 3 fish for 6 bites. I broke one of the cardinal rules of fishing and left the spot even though the fish were still biting. We caught nothing at our next spot, even though we marked fish, they were not active. I asked the group what they wanted to do and they all decided that going back to the original spot would be best. We caught five more fish, limiting out. Thanks so much, Nick, for the great feedback on the website.

October 10th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Mid Day Fishing Trip: After getting blown off the lake the day before I was anxious to get as early a start as possible for the second trip of the day. I called my clients and they agreed to meet me at the dock at 10:30. As I pulled in from the morning trip they were already waiting, excited to get on the water and get to fishing. We stayed on the California side of the lake giving us the best opportunity to stay out of the wind should it kick up out of the Southwest. It didn’t take us long to hook up on the jig, with the first fish landed within the first five minutes. We worked the area, catching our limit by noon and before the wind caught up with us.

October 10th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Morning Fishing Trip: We didn’t even waste time trolling this morning but went straight to jigging. We had our  limit by 7:30 am, with a 14.01 lb Mackinaw kicker. We had plenty of time left to target Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout but without success, not even marking them on the fish finder. I hope to have these clients back next year… we had a great trip and caught some amazing fish.

image2-12
October 9th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Mid Day Fishing Trip: We departed the dock around noon. Since I know what the fish were already biting from earlier in the day, we went straight to jigging. After a quick lesson to teach all on board the effective jigging action, we started to catch the fish. The winds slowly started to pick up making it difficult to stay over the fish. After re-positioning the boat a few times against the wind, we decided to call it a day. This family caught more than enough fish and were happy with their trip.
image1-26
October 9th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Morning Fishing Trip: This morning we hit the lake and trolled catching two Mackinaw for four bites. I wasn’t impressed with the quality or pace of the bite so we headed to the California side of the lake for some jigging. What a HOT bite! A certain color jig had been successful the previous day and one of the clients chose that rod, getting two bites right away. I pulled the other rod with the same jig and sent it down, getting a bite but loosing the fish. It was now clear what the fish were drawn to. I changed out all the rods to the same color jig  and the bite was crazy. The fish would come in schools and all the rods would get a bite or hook up, the last round resulting in all five rods hooking up simultaneously. It made for an exciting trip!

image1-25
October 8th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- I was the newcomer on the boat when it came to fishing today. My client, Leonard, is newly retired from his own Lake Tahoe fishing charter which he had for 30+ years, and my other client has been fishing with him for just about as long. They wanted to target the Rainbow Trout and German Brown Trout so we top lined for the majority of the trip with little success; one Brown and one Rainbow, both too small to keep. I think we all got tire of waiting for the trout to bite so we opted to switch fishing methods and jig for some Mackinaw. We caught our limit and released two.

image1-24
October 7th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- It was a beautiful calm morning on Lake Tahoe to go fishing. We started the trip trolling catching 2 fish for 3 bites, both Mackinaw. The fishing was slow trolling so we went over to the California side, finding a few spots to jig, finishing out the limit of fish for the trip. Thanks, Drew, for writing me a great Google Review. Good reviews are the best tip a new business owner can receive. Thanks again for helping get the word out.

image1-23
October 5th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- With the weather getting colder, and the water temperature of Lake Tahoe dropping, this group wanted to target Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. Just last week, before our first snow at lake level, they weren’t biting, but today, I am happy to report, they were. We top lined some go-to trout lures. When the bite materialized it was quick, 6 bites with 4 fish caught, in the matter of 45 minutes. Three of the fish were Rainbow Trout and one was a Mackinaw. This was a catch and release trip so we got the fish back in the water to be caught another day.

October 4th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today the winds were predicted to be 4 mph but in reality were blowing 10 to 15. We started the trip trolling, battling the wind the entire time to stay on course and pass the lures by the fish correctly. We were able to catch one fish for 3 bites. With the trolling bite being so slow we were ready to jig. We checked out two spots on the Nevada side of the Lake, marking some fish but not finding the large schools that I like to see. With the weather and season changing and the fishing being so slow I think it is time to rethink my fishing strategy and find what the colder weather fish are interested in.

October 2nd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today’s Charter was cancelled due to a lake wind advisory. Thankful to reschedule for Tuesday the 4th when the weather is expected to calm down.

September 29th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Fun day on the lake with two brothers. They were interested in toplining for Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. I let them know it was a bit early in the season for the trout, but they were interested in learning the method and giving it a try anyway. We put forth a good effort, toplining around Tahoe City for the better half of the morning. No bites. We decided to go jigging to at least get some Mackinaw in the boat… but yet again, no bites. With no fish and the trip coming to an end, we decided to troll big lures… and finally were able to catch. We ended the day with a double hookup of Mackinaw.

image1-21
September 28th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe-We enjoyed the calm morning trolling, catching 4 Mackinaw and missing a few along the way. These ladies were in Tahoe with their book club and decided to come fishing to catch dinner for the group. Mission successful.

image1-22
September 27, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Beautiful, warm, calm day on Lake Tahoe… but the fishing has definitely slowed down. We hit multiple spots with little success. That’s fishing for you. We were able to get a few nice fish in the boat… they just made us work harder than usual.

September 25th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- I had a suspicion that today’s fishing charter might need to be rescheduled due to Easterly winds. I woke up at 3 am to assess the conditions and knew right away when I heard the gusts in the tops of the pines that I would have to cancel. Thankfully I had local clients that were able to reschedule. I look forward to taking them out when the conditions improve. I was glad that these clients took my advice not to get their fishing licenses until the day of the charter so that they would not lose out on the $15.12 one day license fee. Always a good idea to get your license on line or call it in, the morning of the trip, since weather can be unpredictable.

September 24th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We had plenty of bites trolling early but only caught 3 fish for the nine bites. When the fishing slowed down we switched methods, heading for the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe to avoid the East winds. When the winds are out of the East I call them Beasterly winds… because they can be a beast to contend with while fishing. The weather reports can never quite peg what the conditions will be when the winds come from this direction. A 4 mph prediction can, in reality, be 15+ mph gusts. Anyway, we found some shelter from the wind up along the Eastern shore of the lake, tried multiple fishing holes, and were able to jig up one more fish. The wind kept pushing us out of position and off of the fish. The weather was difficult but the company was good with plenty of laughs between friends.

September 23rd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- This morning started with a 6 am pick up at the Hyatt. The six I had on board were part of a 12 person group that I joined a fellow charter boat to accommodate. We fished the California side of Lake Tahoe, trolling for Mackinaw from 280 to 330 feet down. The group needed to be off the boat by 9 am to catch a flight so I worked fast to try to ensure that everyone caught fish in a short amount of time. We were able to get six fish for eight bites with everyone being able to get a fish on board. Satisfied with their catch, I cleaned and filleted the fish and got the group back to the dock on time. It was a short but productive fishing trip.

September 22nd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today was a private fishing charter for a client who is now retired and wanted to learn different trout fishing techniques. We primarily did deep line trolling using various lures and depths. I like to share what I have learned about fishing Lake Tahoe with those who are interested and enjoy seeing them perfect their own fishing styles. One thing about fishing… the more you do it the better you get and the more comfortable you become with the equipment and the environment. We caught plenty of fish, releasing the smaller fish and filleting the larger for dinner.

September 19th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe-This couple has fished Lake Tahoe in the past and were less than satisfied with their previous experience. I was thankful that they were open for another try and chose me to show them how great fishing Lake Tahoe can be. We chose to troll for the duration of the trip, picking up fish here and there and swapping stories as we went. It was a laid back trip with boat limits by the end of the morning. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect fishing day with calm waters and beautiful blue skies.

September 18th, 2016 Reel-Letless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Today was the all important oil change and basic boat maintenance day that ensures everything runs smooth when I am fishing with clients. After the maintenance I went out for a bit and trolled some big lures to see if there might be any big fish feeding. No luck today… but still a beautiful day on Lake Tahoe to be fishing.

September 16th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We headed out and arrived at our fishing spot. The fishing action was slow to start. I told my clients that the fishing would start picking up right as you start to see the glow of the sun behind the mountains. We had our first strike and fish on at first light. We continued to troll, catching fish here and there. Before long the boat limit was caught, around 8:30. This couple had a long drive ahead of them, back to the LA area, so were content with their quick catch. I enjoyed this couple and hope to have them back on board this winter for some variety fishing when the Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout are biting.

September 15th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- First fishing trip of the day: We started off the morning trolling catching 5 fish and missing 2 with some short strikes in between. After that we tried our luck jigging. I wanted to show my clients a different fishing method to keep things interesting and see what method they preferred. Some people prefer trolling, liking to kick back and relax while waiting for the fish to bite, others like the constant activity of jigging and the sensation of feeling the fish strike the lure. We had some in each group on board today. It was great to be able to provide both fishing styles to make everyone happy. We caught 3 fish for 3 on the jig, putting us at our boat limit.

Second fishing trip of the day: The fishing slowed down around 9 am this morning, making this second trip of the day a challenge being that it departed the dock at around 10:45. We started out jigging, hitting all the schooled fish I could find on the fish finder, but with meager results. The fish just weren’t biting. We gave it an hour and a half, moving from spot to spot then decided to try our luck trolling. I put my go to fishing lures on the line that the fish usually find irresistible… but just two short strikes, then finally, a fish on! I almost kissed that fish I was so thankful. I was thinking this trip would be the one where I went back to the dock empty handed… but not today.

September 14th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The Mackinaw fishing here on Lake Tahoe has been excellent lately, due in part to fewer fishing boats being out on the lake. Limits are easily reached these days without having to cover a lot of water and hit multiple fishing holes. Today we started off trolling, getting to our spot a little early before the fish were ready for us. We trolled around without success for about half an hour, then the bite was on. We caught 6 fish for 6 bites, releasing the last fish which was smaller than the rest. We had a lot of the morning left to fish so I asked my clients what they would like to do with the rest of their trip. They decided to target Rainbow Trout and German Brown Trout. I got the top-lining rods ready and we fished the shallows at about 30 feet of water. A few fish were marked on the fish finder but we were unsuccessful… I guess that is why they call it fishing, not catching! The water temperature is still a bit warm for the rainbows and browns, 63 degrees and dropping. With cooler temperatures right around the corner I should be posting the shallow water catch within the month. Thanks, Jerry, for the TripAdvisor Review!

September 13th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- There are few days that I am glad that I am not out on Lake Tahoe fishing, but today was one of them. The wind was gusting from the South West causing the waves and chop on the North side of the lake to reach substantial heights. I have a great boat and great gear but it would have been nearly impossible to stay over the fish today had I gone out. I was thankful that I did not have a booking that had to be cancelled. Perfect timing to have a day with the family.

September 12th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Ahhh…. a day off… and I am still thinking about fishing. What will they be biting this Fall? What depths? Color patterns, lure size… blah blah blah! My wife has diagnosed me with OCFD (Obsessive Compulsive Fishing Disorder). All I can say is that I am a blessed man to love what I do every day. Can’t wait to get back out on the lake.

September 11th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The group today made the drive to the north shore of Lake Tahoe from where they were staying at Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center on the Nevada side of South Shore Tahoe. We started trolling on the the California side, hooking the first fish within a few minutes of having the line set. The fish got off and then we hooked into a big fish and got it to within 50 feet of the boat before it shook the hook loose. We continued trolling with a few short strikes, catching a fish here and there. When the bite slowed we headed to the Nevada side and checked out a few fishing holes catching 2 more Mackinaw jigging. Everyone caught with the lady getting the two biggest fish… overall a great day spent on the lake with this group.

September 10th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We were out on the lake early… the couple today was still on East Coast time so we had no issue getting on the fish for the pre-sunrise bite. My clients only wanted to keep one fish for their dinner to be prepared at the Hyatt where they were staying. I told them it would look bad for my fishing report if we only got one, so they were convinced to catch the boat limit and have me give the extra fish to friends who are always willing to enjoy some fresh Mackinaw. It was fast action trolling this morning, limits by 8 am.

September 9th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- I had a great morning with this fun-loving group enjoying Lake Tahoe for the first time. We reached our first fishing destination a bit behind schedule but thankfully the fish were late feeders today as well. We missed the first two fish trolling but ended up with five nice fish by 8 am. The group could have caught more fish to fulfill their allowable limit but were happy with the five (dinner for two nights), not wanting to be wasteful. Always nice to have conscientious anglers on board.

September 8th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters- Today the Mackinaw fishing was excellent. We trolled around the California side of the lake and caught our limit by 7:30 am. Days like today make fishing look easy. The 4 inch spoon was the key lure today. Sometimes the fish like a certain size and color lure and then the next day the fish may not bite it at all. It makes for a fun day fishing when A) you are on the fish, and B) have the right lure on.

September 7th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Fun group on board today who traveled all the way from the UK to go to Burning Man… and then swing by Lake Tahoe for some fishing. We caught five fish trolling with a couple missed bites. Once the trolling bite died off we headed to the Nevada side of the lake for some jig fishing. Three more fish were caught with two more missed bites for the boat limit. After experiencing both fishing methods these clients commented that they found jigging preferable and much more exciting than trolling. It is always fun to introduce my clients to the many ways that Mackinaw can be caught.

September 6th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- We trolled early in the morning, catching our limit within the first hour and a half. Not wanting to end the trip early, and hoping for some luck, we released the smallest fish and geared up for a trophy hunt. We had two on board celebrating birthdays and catching a big fish would be a great gift. We started off by trolling some big stick baits without results so switched to large spoons. We got one bite on the giant spoon but weren’t able to hook the fish. Today was a great way to celebrate birthdays, both for the lady on board and myself. Can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing.

image1 (12)
September 4th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- The lake was rough from the get go limiting our options as to where we could fish. We hugged the West shore to hide from the wind catching four fish right away but losing one about 20 feet way from the boat. We made a few more passes over the spot that produced the bites but had no more action. I think the one that got away went and warned his friends. We found a spot to jig that I had marked fish, about 130-170 feet and caught one more fish and lost one more. Fighting the wind and chop to stay over the fish proved to be an extra challenge today.

image1 (11)
September 3rd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- Being that there were only three of us on board I didn’t want to have the trip end too early by limiting out right away so we trolled some big lures early, seeing if there were any substantial fish around. The big fish weren’t biting so we switched to some smaller lures, got a few strikes and one keeper. Time to jig. We went 1 for 4 fish, the captain missing three of the bites!… I love it when my clients out fish me.

September 2nd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe- With summer coming to an end and cooler weather many clients have asked if the Rainbow Trout and German Brown Trout are biting yet. Today I took some friends out with me to answer that question. The lake was rough. We spent the better part of the morning top lining trout lures in the shallows with not one bite. We threw a wide variety of lures at the fish but they would have none of it. With the water temperatures still being warm we will have to wait a bit longer into the Fall season for the Rainbows and the Browns. The later part of October into November should produce some shallow water trout action. Being that we didn’t want to go home empty handed, we found a spot to jig up a few Mackinaw for dinner.

August 31, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Today we were on the hunt. You may have gathered that the hunt was unsuccessful due to the lack of an accompanying photo. We trolled some custom baits to see if the big fish might be interested. A few fish were caught, 2 fish for 5 bites, but not the size and quality that we were hunting for. My client wants a big fish for his wall…. we will have to make that happen another day.

August 30th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Great to get last minute bookings. I was happy I was available to take this couple out. We started trolling early, trying two different sized lures, one on each side of the boat. I was surprised that the smaller lure had more bites and caught the largest fish. Sometimes you just don’t know what the fish will be interested in. We had our share of bites while trolling and caught a few, then switched to jig fishing. 3 more fish were caught jigging. We released the smaller fish and were happy to have 5 nice keepers.

August 28th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Today was a family and friends trip with my brother in law in from Hawaii. Always good to go fishing on a day off to just relax and have a good time… and of course catch some fish for dinner. It was a beautiful day with a cold start, feeling a bit like Fall. We marked a lot of fish in the 170 foot depth range and decided to jig them up. We ended up catching 4 fish for 10 bites which was perfect since this trip was about more than fishing.

image1 (54)
August 26th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: This party was referred by a father and son trip from the week before. I am always grateful for the business sent my way by other clients. We got on a good trolling bite early. We caught 8 for 8 Mackinaw, releasing the smallest fish. Sometimes the bite is on fire, like this morning. Days like today make fishing look easy.

August 24th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: This group was more about the experience than the quantity of fish. They only wanted to keep a couple fish for dinner so I focused on locating the best quality sized fish for eating. We started off trolling then moved to jigging. The group caught 2 fish for 2 bites trolling and 2 fish for 3 bites jigging, all Mackinaw.

August 23rd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Great to have return clients from last week back on board. They wanted to hunt for the big fish today so we spent the first two thirds of the trip trolling big lures, hoping to get lucky. We caught a few nice fish, but not the big one. We marked plenty of large schools of fish while we were trolling so decided to switch to the jig to see if the schooled fish were biting. We caught another 3 fish for 4 bites on the jig making it a great day of fishing all around.

August 22nd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Wow, a day off! This must be the start to the slower season when schools are back in and the tourism slows down at Lake Tahoe. What many people don’t know is that the fishing actually gets better once the hot days of summer have passed. I took the opportunity to do some much needed shopping for fishing supplies (lures and line) and some shirts that would keep me cool and block the intense high altitude sun. I found some Under Armour and Huk Fishing shirts to do the job. I look forward to being back out on Lake Tahoe tomorrow doing what I love to do.

August 21st, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: The fishing was good today with the biggest fish caught early on the troll. We were all caught by surprise when we had a fish on without the lines being set to depth yet. We finished the early morning troll catching four fish for five. Going  to a spot near Tahoe City that had been producing quality fish, we tried  our luck jigging catching another two fish. Over all a great day spent with this couple. Having clients like this on board make me feel blessed to be doing what I am doing. Thank you for two great days of fishing and sharing your company.

August 20th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: I had a great time with these self proclaimed “redneckish” brothers. Nothing like a little sibling rivalry to make the trip exciting.  We started off early with a double hookup right before sunrise. We went four fish for five trolling then switched to some bigger lures to see if we could get lucky with a trophy fish. Since the big ones weren’t biting we switched to jigging then caught another three fish ending the trip with another double hookup but had to release one fish to maintain our limit. Happy Birthday Robby!

August 19th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: This was the second trip out for this father and son duo in two weeks. They wanted to get their fishing time in before school started. We caught some quality sized Mackinaw trolling early in the trip. After switching to the jig we easily caught our boat limit. Thanks for spending your last days of summer out fishing with me on Lake Tahoe.

August 18th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Mid-Morning Fishing Trip- The fish made us work really hard on the onset of the trip. We caught 1 fish for 2 bites in the first two hours! There was a lot of time spent searching for active fish, first Tahoe City, and all around that area, then back to the area we first fished then finally, at the last spot we tried two more fish were caught. The wind picked up around 2 pm adding an extra challenge to our fishing day. Even thought the fishing wasn’t as exciting as it could have been, I thoroughly enjoyed the two young men I had on board. Thanks for the laughs and the King of the Hill impressions.

image1 (45)
August 18th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Morning Fishing Trip- We started trolling at about 200 feet deep with the fish becoming active right before sunrise. The bite was exciting but didn’t last very long. The larger fish pictured above was caught during this early morning bite. Once the bite died out we went to a different fishing spot and jigged up a few more. We caught our limit for the fishing charter, 2 fish for 6 bites trolling and 2 fish for 2 bites jigging, and enjoyed the perfect Lake Tahoe weather.

August 17th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Sometimes it is not about the fishing, which was a good thing today, since the fishing was slower than normal. This trip was about sibling bonding. The group on board today were in Tahoe for a small family reunion at Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center across the lake. One of the family members came out with me last year with some friends, and decided to bring the family this time. We caught three fish and lost two or three more. More importantly it was a memorable time spent with family. Irene, you can adopt
me any time you want!

August 16th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: We started the trip by trolling some big lures, hunting for the big one, hoping to put the icing on the cake for this family’s vacation, but without success. We switched to the jig and caught a few nice fish. It would have been nice to catch some more fish but sometimes the lake gives you just what you need and no more. I can’t wait to see this family next summer. Thanks for making me a part of your annual Lake Tahoe fishing vacation.

August 15th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Morning Trip- This one was a tough one. For some strange reason I had a feeling that the fishing was going to be slow. Unfortunately my premonition played itself out with only two fish caught, missing two.

August 15th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Mid-Morning Fishing Trip- We broke some records today… smallest fish ever caught on my boat. The fish was smaller than the jig! We all got a good laugh out of this tiny catch, but also were able to pull in some nice fish as well. What a beautiful calm day. The fishing was much better than the morning trip keeping 3 fish and releasing the smaller ones. This group from Chicago were great to have on board. Thanks, Joey, for the Tripadvisor Review!

August 14th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Wonderful family from London on board today. The family was concerned that they might have missed the early morning sunrise bite since we were off to a late start, yet their concerns were unfounded. We went straight to jigging and caught 3 fish for 3 bites at the first fishing hole. The family was thrilled with their catch and would have been content with just the three, but the lake was generousness and we ended up catching our limit. Since they had come all the way from London, I took them around for some sightseeing at the Thunderbird Lodge. It was a pleasure to be a part of this families Lake Tahoe vacation.

August 13th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Today I had my first customer ever return for his 4th fishing charter. He is one of the most devoted fishermen that I know, and he is only 16! He has a bucket list of fish to catch and has already crossed off an impressive number. We were hunting for the ONE today, trolling around with some custom baits designed to catch the monster of Lake Tahoe. We managed to catch 4 fish of nice size, but they were not the ONE. Happy hunting…. I look forward to having you on my boat again next year.

August 12th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Second Fishing Trip of the Day- We left the dock at 10:30 am and the fishing was fast right of the bat. The young man hooked into his first fish within the first 2 minutes of jigging. I got excited that we had found a good fishing hole… but only one more fish then nothing. Off to the next spot which produced the bigger fish in the picture. What a battle! The young man hooked it all by himself and got the fish in the net. Again, I thought we were on a good spot, but the fish stopped biting. We moved again and all of us were having a hard time remaining patient with the fish as the hot August sun pounded the boat. We explored one more area that is typically good but it gave up only one small  fish. We gave it one last ditch effort, hitting a few more fishing holes on the way back to the dock, but with no results. All on board finished the day exhausted… today the fish made us work

August 12th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Morning Fishing Trip- Due to  the slow bite yesterday I prepared for more of the the same by making sure the boat had plenty of fuel for covering a lot of lake looking for the active fish. We jumped from spot to spot, catching a few fish here and there, and ended up with our limit. This group was all about catch and release so we released all the fish we could and only kept the fish that were badly injured.

August 11th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Some days the fish just aren’t biting making my job as a guide a lot more challenging. Today was one of those days. We tried multiple methods and many different fishing holes with minimal results. At the end of the day we caught 4 fish for 7 bites. The hot days of summer when the water temperature is at it’s peek and Lake Tahoe is being fished heavily makes catching fish challenging this time of year. I appreciate the clients on board today who were satisfied with their experience even though I, as their guide, was hoping for better results.

August 10th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: We had a bit of a late start. It can be hard to rally the kids at 5 in the morning. Once we were on the water we set the minnow trap to catch what we needed for jigging later on, plan B, just in case the trolling bite turned out to be slow. We started off with one bite, getting the kids excited, then a double hook up! Everyone was excited then. There wasn’t much action trolling after that so we checked out a few different fishing holes to find a good spot to jig. The first spot we tried only produced on bite and one fish in the boat so we moved on. The next fishing hole had great action with a triple hook up to start. We moved around in that same area and were able to catch two more fish. It was a great trip for this three generation family charter.

August 9th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Today turned out to be a trolling trip. The bite was hot early then turned off around 8:30 am. We caught 6 Mackinaw  for 14 bites, releasing the smallest fish. We had plenty of opportunities with the way the fish were biting, but no matter how good a fisherman you are, you just can’t catch them all. My clients on board had never learned to jig Lake Tahoe so after trolling we found a spot to practice. We didn’t catch any fish but they got their jigging technique down for next time. I love to teach those who want to learn new fishing methods and love learning new methods myself when the opportunity presents itself. One of my recent clients suggested hotdogs for bait…. I just might try it, HA

August 8th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: The first fish we hooked was a gift to the young man on board celebrating his 20th birthday. It was a nice Mackinaw, from 7 to 8 lbs. The fish put up a fight making for an exciting start to the charter. We continued to troll and boated another four Mackinaw. The bite was still active trolling but
I wanted to show my clients different methods of fishing so we took up the jigging rods and headed for the Nevada side of the lake. We caught our boat limit jigging, catching another 3 fish for 6 bites. By 8:30 I was cleaning fish and headed back to the dock. I am glad that my clients chose me for their birthday fishing charter. Thanks guys for the Yelp Review! It was a fun day.

August 7th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: First trip of the day- I love it when locals show their guests a good time by taking them fishing. There was no need to entertain these long time friends from Georgia. The trip was punctuated with wise cracks and joking… and some fishing as well. We did some early morning trolling, hooking 3 fish for 6 bites. Once the bite slowed we started searching for schooled fish to jig. We went 4 fish for 5 bites on the jig catching the group plenty of fish for their dinner plans. Thanks, Bob, for coming out today and bringing your friends. It was a great trip.

August 7th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Second Trip of the Day- Great family from North Carolina. Our mid day trip started at 10:30 am. We fished the California side of the lake near the Tahoe City/Homewood area. There was a lot of action on the jig but the fish were hard to get in the boat with many shaking  free half way up. The winds started to pick up around 1:30 pm making it hard to stay over the fish. In the end there were 6 fish in the boat with countless bites. The group sent in pictures of how they prepared their catch. It looks delicious!

August 6th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Today we started off trolling for Mackinaw early, catching 3 fish for 4 bites. The bite never quite turned on at a fishing hole that is usually consistent. We gave it another 45 minutes to see if we could find schools of bait with feeding fish but without results. We reeled in the trolling lines and got out the jigging rods. We marked a lot of large schools of fish on the fish finder on the California side of the Lake but all we could manage were 3 fish for 5 bites. The fish made us work a little harder than usual today but I had happy clients with limits at the end of the day. Check out the Yelp review from today’s clients Here

August 5th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters: I love my returning clients! I was able to reschedule an understanding client who has fished with me before so that I could accommodate the group of four that I had today. Thanks Nate! They came to Lake Tahoe to fish and due to a miscommunication with their regular guide, found themselves without a reservation. Some phone calls were made and things were worked out for all parties involved. Now, about the fishing… the trolling bite was really fast this morning. Every pass and every turn seemed to produce a bite and a fish on! We had 7 fish in the boat before sunrise, releasing 3 of the smaller fish. On one of the passes a down rigger clip broke and I was without a spare. Lesson learned… I will keep extra on board from now on. The trip was not impacted, however, we just switched to jigging and caught 3 fish for 5 bites. Over all a great day of fishing. And one last thing… Bob, if you are reading this, pick on someone your own size! HA!

August 4th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: This morning it was all about the trolling. Once we found the school of fish we made several passes and hooked at least one each time. We caught 6 fish for 10 bites with a few short strikes. When the trolling bite tapered off we headed for the Nevada side and found a few more active fish jigging to reach our limit. After 9 nice sized fished, between 3 and 4 lbs each, #10 was tiny so it was released. At the outset of the trip the group was concerned that they would not catch enough fish for their dinner party this evening with 13 guest. That proved to be an unfounded worry. This clear, blue and calm day was a great one to be out fishing on Lake Tahoe.

August 3rd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: First Fishing Trip of the Day- The fishing was fast this morning. We left the dock at 5 and trolled the deep water structure on the California side, quickly catching our limits of Mackinaw.
image1 (31)
August 3rd, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Second Fishing Trip of the Day- The later fishing trips are for those who enjoy sleeping in and then seeing the sights Lake Tahoe has to offer, and perhaps catch a few fish. We had a great late morning trip, leaving the dock at 10:30 am. The lake was calm with just a little boat chop. We had our first fish in the boat within the first few minutes of jigging, but then, as they are accustomed to doing, the fish scattered and we spent the rest of the trip motoring from fishing spot to fishing spot, missing some bites, catching a few. For the more relaxed anglers on board, it was a great trip. We caught fish and were able to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

image1 (29)
August 2nd, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: I had one experienced fisherman and two greenhorns on the boat today. Experience did not prove to be the deciding factor today… it was luck and a willingness to learn. The least experienced fishermen caught most of the fish. It was a beautiful day on the lake with calm perfect fishing weather. We started the fishing trip trolling, catching 4 and missing 2, all smaller fish so we released them. Then we brought out the jigging rods and moved to 3 different spots, catching fish at each fishing hole. We ended the trip with Mackinaw limits. Happy clients, happy fishing guide.

August 1st, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Today was the behind the scenes day for maintenance to ensure that the fishing charters go smoothly and all equipment runs properly. I lifted the boat and changed the oil in the lower unit of the outboard motor. While I had the boat out of the water I took the opportunity to scrub the junk off the bottom which usually adds a few mph’s to the boat ride, reducing drag. I was able to modify the fish live well to circulate clean water more effectively keeping the fish fresher longer. I hate to take a day off fishing in the busy summer charter season but in the end it is worth it when everything operates efficiently.

July 31st, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: I know there will be a day in my guiding career when I have to report that we caught no fish, but thankfully, today is not that day, even though it came uncomfortably close. We had no problem finding the fish, getting them to bite was another story. Every time we marked fish on the fish finder then dropped our jigs, we watched as they scattered. This trend persisted throughout the morning. At the end of the day we had 4 bites and 2 fish in the boat. The group of four on the boat were experienced fishermen and graciously understood that some days are just off days. I hope to have them back when the fish are biting.

July 30th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Mid-Day trip- Great family from Rocklin today. We left the doc at 10 am and fished the Nevada side of the lake. After exploring a few different spots we found some active Mackinaw. Ladies first was applicable today with the first fish going to the lady on board. Everyone else got in on the fishing action as well. Lots of Lake Tahoe fishing family fun.

July 30th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Morning trip- I love it when people are as excited about fishing as I am. This couple showed up 15 minutes early for the trip. It was a great morning and I felt honored to be their fishing guide as they celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary today. Lake Tahoe was calm and glassy this morning, perfect for finding and catching fish. We spent the morning trolling, catching limits within an hour and a half. The couple decided to call the trip early and go fry their fish with some eggs for breakfast.

image1 (26)
July 29th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Calm and hot! The trolling bite was off today so we moved around quite a bit until we found some active fish then started fishing with the jigs. With a quick lesson on “how to jig” my clients started catching their own fish. They caught their limit and I even got to take one home for the barbecue.

July 27th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe:

Morning Fishing Trip- It was an early morning bite for once. We caught and released 4 small fish trolling early on with the fish progressively getting bigger as time went by. The trolling fishing bite lasted from 5:15 am to about 8 am. The jig bite was a bit slower with one fish in the boat. A fantastic morning over all with good fish and clients with great humor. Thanks for a great day!

Second Fishing Trip of the Day- We left the dock at 10:30 for this family fishing trip and headed for the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. The first fishing spot we explored had plenty of fish, hooking two that got off the line close to the boat. We moved around the area trying to engage active fish with the jigs with no results so moved spots once more. We motored over near Sand Harbor with no results then headed to Chimney Beach, catching 2 with a few more missed bites. With the fishing being so slow we headed back to our original spot to see if the fish there would bite and caught one more. Slow second trip of the day but it was still a good trip with fish in the boat.

image1 (25)
July 26th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: It was a good morning bite trolling. Lately the jig has been most effective but not today. The quality of fish is improving on the troll. Even better than the fish were the smiles on these two young fishermen.

July 25th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Guiding fishing trips is my passion and when I have a group like I had today it makes my day. All on board were excited to fish and accepted the instruction that I gave with awesome results. We caught limits of Mackinaw an hour and a half into the trip, releasing some of the smaller fish. Thanks for spending your annual Lake Tahoe family vacation with me!

July 21st, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe:  My group from Texas enjoyed the cooler weather today than they are used to at home, as well as fishing for different species of fish other than bass. We started the fishing trip trolling off Tahoe City with 7 fish netted for 9 bites within the first hour. Once the trolling bite slowed we explored other areas looking for schooled fish. Once we found them it was game over with the jig bite. I filleted their catch so they could have a fish fry later that day. All smiles from these Texans.

July 20th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: I love return clients! I had this same group of 3 anglers last year during my first guiding season. This year the weather didn’t cooperate for their scheduled fishing trip so thankfully we were able to reschedule when the winds weren’t blowing. We tried something new and fished the Southeast shore. The fishing was pretty tough with the fish making us work really hard for each bite. We moved from fishing spot to fishing spot without much action. We decided to try our initial spot of the day one more time and this is where the fish started biting. The best part of the trip was seeing Luke, the youngest fisherman on the boat, catch his very own fish from jigging to setting the hook to reeling the fish in all by himself. His smile tells the story! Dave, best health to you. I look forward to fishing with you again my friend.

July 19th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: I had a great time with “Queen Elizabeth” and her husband “Julius Caesar”. When I got the call a few days ago and the client introduced herself as Queen Elizabeth I knew it would be a fun trip, plus it was her birthday. The fishing was slow to start. The fist few hours were spent trolling around looking for schools of Mackinaw with only one fish for three bites. We switched up fishing methods and headed for some promising spots. 7 fish for 9 bites on the jig. Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth!

July 18th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe:  Lake wind advisory today with winds out of the South at 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Had to cancel the morning fishing charter and reschedule for a later date. Hoping for better weather tomorrow.

image1 (14)
July 17th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: We started off top lining with the first fish to hit being a 3 lb German Brown Trout. While turning the boat around to make another pass over the schooled fish, the rod was hit by a 2.5 lb Rainbow Trout. After one last pass without results we moved off the spot to deeper water and targeted schools of Mackinaw. The rest of the morning was spent jigging for Mackinaw and catching four, releasing two. It was a great day fishing with nice variety.

July 16th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: Great clients from the foothills today who have fished Lake Tahoe for years, as well as any where else they have vacationed. I love having passionate anglers on board who enjoy fishing as much as I do. They enjoyed the individual experience of a private fishing charter that just can’t be had on the larger fishing boats. The early morning fishing bite was steady, starting with two small Mackinaw that we released, then the size of fish steadily increased. The biggest fish in the net was a 7lb Mackinaw.

July 15th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: A couple of dads from San Diego taking their kids out to experience fishing in Lake Tahoe. We trolled a couple spots early while we waited for the minnow trap to fill then did a quick jigging lesson for the kids to show them the effective technique for catching Mackinaw in Lake Tahoe. The dads got the awards for first fish in the boat and largest fish, but everyone caught! 15 netted for 19 bites are great numbers.

July 14th, 2016  Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: After a late 7:30 start we just caught the tail end of the morning bite. We were still able to catch a few for dinner so no complaints. Even a slow day fishing on beautiful Lake Tahoe is a good day.

July 13th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: I had four great hunters/anglers from San Mateo CA coming to see what Lake Tahoe had to offer in the fishing department. We started trolling early and caught 4 nice keepers averaging around 4.5 lbs. When the troll bite cooled off we switched up and grabbed the jigging rods. The Mackinaw were active on the jig as well, with many missed bites but netting 2 keepers.

July 12th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: We had a late start of 7:45 this morning and arrived at our fishing destination on the North shore of Lake Tahoe around 8am. It didn’t take us long to find the fish. We caught 8 for 9 jigging. This was a great family fishing charter with everyone catching, from the youngest to the oldest. This was the first fishing trip for the kids and they had a great time. I think we have some potential lifetime anglers.

July 2nd, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters Lake Tahoe: After we caught our boat limit of fish my clients enjoyed using their tec toys. We had a great time sending the GoPro down to the depths of Lake Tahoe to see what we could see. The most fun was the drone and the amazing footage that it provided of Lake Tahoe and the clear blue water. Here is a note from my client. Click on the link below.
Hey man,
We had a great time today.  Here is the drone video.  Feel free to use it as you wish.

Mackinaw Caught Jigging North Lake Tahoe
July 10th, 2016 Reel-Lentless Fishing Charter Lake Tahoe: We started the trip trolling and caught and released four small Mackinaw and then switched techniques and started jigging to see if we could find something worth keeping. We weren’t disappointed and soon caught limits (pictured above).  These local Incline Village clients had a great time on their home turf.
